Marc Monzó (born 1973, Barcelona), jeweller and current creative director of MISUI, has been awarded the most prestigious contemporary European jewellery prize available; the world- renowned Françoise van den Bosch Award 2016.
The judges praised Marc Monzó for his ability to reduce jewellery to its very essence, as well as the poetry and elegance of his pieces, which they deemed always wearable and always surprising. Monzó uses unconventional, unexpected but very thoughtful solutions in his work.
The Françoise van den Bosch Award is a biennial jewellery award given to an outstanding international designer or artist, chosen directly by a panel of experts. As well as the financial prize given to the artist, pieces of their work are bought to become part of the Françoise van den Bosch collection and remain permanently at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
In Marc Monzó´s case, two retrospective exhibitions of his work will be held in museums yet to be determined in Holland (for 2016) and in Barcelona (for 2017).
